Meeting Customer Requirements
The acquisition of Fredhopper builds on the momentum created by SDL’s earlier acquisition of Tridion in 2007. Since that acquisition, SDL has seen a growing demand for solutions that manage and optimize high value customer engagements to drive online revenue, deliver excellent brand experience and improve customer satisfaction across multiple channels. More than 600 global companies have already adopted SDL enterprise Web Content Management solutions, including companies such as HP, AIG, Canon, Yamaha, Toyota, Metlife, BBVA, Universal Studios, and Reebok.
The Fredhopper acquisition brings innovative and proven targeting technology to the SDL product portfolio. The capabilities offered by Fredhopper will extend the reach of the SDL’s overall proposition in the areas of onsite search, onsite targeting, predictive targeting, and targeted advertising. The combination of the Fredhopper technology with SDL Tridion already has resulted in SmartTarget, a new and unique solution to manage and optimize high value customer engagements. SDL will launch SmartTarget in the second quarter of this year.
The New Business Unit
With the Fredhopper acquisition, SDL is creating an independent business unit that will be branded SDL eCommerce Technologies. The division will be led by Fredhopper’s current management team, and be focused on providing targeting and marketing software for online retailers.
The acquisition will also enable Fredhopper to launch its online targeting technology into new verticals – namely financial services, insurance, and manufacturing, through SDL’s existing Web Content Management solutions. The combination of SDL Tridion and Fredhopper will make SDL the definitive leader in the next generation Online Marketing suites.
An Extended Product Line
With the acquisition of Fredhopper, SDL significantly expands its product offering and technical capabilities with Onsite Search, Onsite Targeting, Predictive Targeting and Targeted Advertising.
